Alan Bartlett age 94
Posted: Friday, 26th February 2021
We are saddened by the news that Alan Bartlett has passed away at the age of 94. Alan was a stalwart supporter of EAORA and the Crouch Yacht Club. He was a Fastnet veteran, experiencing the tragic race of 1979, and he raced again in 2005 at the age of 79
Alan won Burnham Week’s Town Cup in 2012 in his Priors built Humphreys 36 Inn Spirit. Alan’s name is on most of trophies from his many years racing on the River Crouch. Throughout his racing career he had many overall and class wins in individual EAORA races, and in 2009 Alan won EAORA overall.
He was still racing well into his 80’s and would be seen in the cockpit of Inn Spirit sharing his years of experience. Alan will be sadly missed by us all and our thoughts go out his family at this difficult time.
Donations to the RNLI in his memory may be made.
